    I have afixture with two black wires one is copper the other a silver metal same with
    I have anew light fixture it has two white and two black lines from the fixture and the green ground wire and there is a bare copper wire. When I looked back up in the original fixture hole there was a white wire, and a black wire both copper. I hooked all the white wires together and all the black wires and the red wire together and the light switch came on and will not go off.

    Red wire, is there a second switch somewhere for this fixture? Look closely at the switch, is the toggle clearly marked ON and OFF? How many reds, what did you connect it/them to?
