Commode flapper closes too quickly and bowl does not fill completely
The flapper in the tank of my commode closes too soon for the bowl to fill up completely. If I manually hold the flapper up foe an extra couple of seconds it fills the bowl like it should. This has just started happening. Any help appreciated.

Check your water level in the tank before you engage the flush. Do you have a ball lever for the flush valve? Or a float?

Also you have to make sure your chain for the flapper flips it all the way up, and your handle and rod assembly is tight. Let me know if any of these suggestions help.

I have a low flush toilet that has a problem. When you flush it instead of pushing the handle down and walking away you have to stand there and wait for the water to drain. Flapper closes before bowl fills [ 6 Answers ]

Hi! A while ago we replaced the flush valve in our toilet. It no longer runs at random times, but in order to get a proper flush you have to hold the handle down or the flapper closes too soon. The water level is correct. If you hold the handle down, keeping the flapper up a bit longer, it...
