    Cant turn off the light
I can not turn off the light on my Hamilton bay ceiling fan using the remote. The remote works for the fan but not the light. I've changed the dip settings on another remote and it still will not work turning off the light but both remotes will turn off the light in the other fan so I know its not the remote. Its in the fan itself, it is not acknowledging the remote. What inside the fan is causing this and how can it be fixed?

    Two possible conditions:

    1) The receiving unit in the fan is blown and the light On/Off circuit does not respond

    2) The actual light circuit is compromised.

Can you get the cowling off and examine the wiring to make sure it is not physical shorted. Then test the circuit to see if you can manually operate the light.

Finally, replace the fan. It probably will cost you more in time and labor that it will to just replace the fan. :)
