Leaky Faucet – How to Change the Washer?
    Hi,

I have a leaking faucet in my bathroom (hot water) and I’ve tried disassembling it in order to change the washer. I’ve got to the point that you see in the pictures, however I’m not sure how to proceed. I tried unscrewing the part the arrows in the pictures are pointing to, but the whole thing rotates including the blue base.

How do I access the washer from here?

    Thanks,

    John

Use 2 pair of pliers... one on the nut, the other on the body of the valve holding against yourself... that should get it out!

    Thanks Mark,

    First excuse my ignorance.

So one of the pliers goes where the arrows are pointing, and the other goes where exactly?

    Thanks again,

    John

The other one goes right where the threaded part of the shaft stops... May even need to overlap the threads a bit. Hold tight so you don't slip and then loosen the stem.

A 10 rigid pipe wrench, or locking vice grips should work.
