Tub plunger moves but gets stuck
I have a brand new tub, was installed a year ago. Tried to use it for first time today to take a bath, but the lever would not flip down. Unscrewed lever, I was having a hard time pulling stopper out, but eventually was able to get it out. Seemed like there was nothing wrong, still bright shiny new brass. Put it back in. The lever closed partially, but not good enough, so I tried to pull stopper out again and now just seems completely impossible to get out. It seems like its getting stuck on something inside the pipe as I'm pulling, It travels slightly and than hits something and so I let go and repeat.. What could be happening.

    Hi Filomania

It sounds like the tub waste and overflow assembly was not adjusted correctly. Since the job is only a year old and it is the plumber's job to be sure that the tub drain assembly gets adjusted properly (actually should fill tub and check that the tub holds and drains water properly) you might just try calling the plumbing company that did the work and let them know that the drain assembly was not adjusted properly and you would appreciate it if they would fix it at their earliest convenience! Depending on the company, that may be all you need to do.

If that doesn't work, let me know and we'll see if we can talk you through the steps needed to adjust the drain assembly, OK?

Stuck Bathtub Plunger [ 5 Answers ]

Recently I've been having draining issues in my tub. At first I thought it was just hair build-up, but after snaking and using clog remover, the problem persisted. I've also been having issues with the drain stopper not moving, so I figured the two were related. I pulled the overflow plate off...

Plunger in tub drain is stuck [ 3 Answers ]

My bath tub has a plunger type drain that seems to be stuck in the up position. I noticed this happening in a different bath tube and removed the plunger. I then used steel wool and cleaned it up. With this tub I can't get the plunger "un-stuck" to be able to remove it. I would imagine it is...
