    Vent over doorway
I want to put a doorway in the middle of a bathroom wall in the basement. I have a sewage pit with lift pump (far right in the picture) and currently venting for (left to right) a bar sink, shower, toilet, vanity sink. I would like to keep the bar sink (its behind the left wall) and shower to the left of the door and toilet and vanity to the right.

Question 1: Does the vent line need to climb over distance? 1" every 4'?

Question 2: Can I use an AAV on the bar sink? What about the shower? I wouldn't try with the toilet.

Question 3: Once the vent line is at a certain height, can I dip it down and back up to go under a beam? The far right side of the room where the vent main is has a beam in front of it.

    In Ohio.

Question 1... Yes, approximately 1/8" to 1/4" pitch per foot of pipe

Question 2... some states allow AAVs and some states do not... answer depends on what Ohio code is regarding AAVs. AAVs, if used, must be readily accessible and cannot be hidden in walls (unless you provide an access panel).

Question 3... no, you cannot dip down and then back up again... that would create a trap and rain water that gets in the pipe and condensation will get trapped and negate the very necessary contribution of the vent.

    Back to you

Good afternoon, I plan on opening a doorway from 32" to possibly 48" opening if I nail 2 2x10's together sandwiched with a piece of plywood, or OSB would that allow me the span support, or is that not enough, or overkill. From my days calculating and building I say yes that should do it,...
