    Where can I find out where my grandfather was born?
    I know he was born in Italy but I don't know the town.

    I would start by looking at the birth certificate for whichever of your parents was his child. That BC might say.

    You might want to use an online service, such as ancestry.com.

    It's not so much a "legal" question, but rather a problem in genealogical research.
