    Topping off a tank
When your at a gas station you want to top off your tank. But you do not know the amount
Of gas it will take? Problem is the attendant wants the unknown amount of money up front before you pump the gas. What do you do in that situation? Leave your watch as security?

The attendant sets the pump to cut-off automatically, based on how much money you gave him.

Then you give the attendant $30 and he/she gives you change back after you fill up. It's really not that hard. If I offered my "watch" I'd be laughed at. It's cheaper than the gas.

You could also ask the attendant what their policy is. Some places only ask that you leave your drivers license until you are done filling up.

Appreciate it. Many want the cash up front, before you pump the gas.
    Thanks

So you give them more than you expect to pump. I think you are making this harder than it really is.
