    Chronic chest pain
for a long time now I have had a pain in my left side chest, It appears to be on a particular rib. Yesterday the severity of the pain caused me to double over while walking . X-rays have shown nothing and I have been treated with both steroid injection and acupuncture. Pain killers work for a few hours but the number needed to keep the pain at bay equals or exceeds the desirable dosage. I am also scheduled for a left side hip replacement Any suggestions as to why and how to treat it.

As you know we can't diagnose. I do have some questions.

Do you have a chronic cough?

How long has this been going on?

Is it ever associated with any illness such as the common cold?

    Back at ya.
