    COPD, Emphysema
Well I am a 54 yr. old female. I have COPD and emphysema. I have noticed I have been coughing more. On Dec.23rd I have noticed that I have a sharp pain in my back under my shoulder blade on my left side. It still has not gone away and today is Dec. 27th. I took a naproxen 500 mg. but it has done nothing for the pain. I still have it. Also I have noticed that I also have a pain in the left forearm. It also hurts. I feel weaker on that side. I was playing with the dog and could not hang on to his chew toy. I did not have the strength. Cannot get to the doctor until Monday. Any ideas what this is? Should I be really concerned?

Yes, you should be very concerned and hope you are not smoking or doing anything else strenuous. We cant make a determination here on AMHD. We don't know your medical history other then what you have told us, and I am sure there is probably more to know.

You have just noticed you are coughing? If you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) along with other lung issues, you have been coughing for quite some time.

If you are suffering and in pain, you are in urgent need of care, your heart is on your left side; please go to the ER.
