How to cap off shower jets
I have 3 jets in my shower and they really don't work well. As you can see by the photo my walls are slate and I don't want to take them out so I was hoping to just cap off the jets. I'd also like to cap off the handle (it's the middle one on the top). I can't find any tutorials online on the process. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Brand and model would help as they likely have a cap/trim cover set, and instructions, and videos. Most just screw out, or have a plastic works, that are designed to twist and remove.

Different brands have different methods, and cap sets. Best to google your brand. For example whirlpool shower jets cap set.

I have to add the reason they are not working properly may be a matter of cleaning.

Simple solution! I don't know why Tal made it sounds so difficult. To cap off the shower head purchase a chrome half inch threaded cap. And a roll out Teflon tape. Unscrew the shower head and replace with the cap. Leave the center handle in the tub position as it cannot be capped off. Good luck, Tom

I thought he might want more choices besides just chrome! Or could benefit from jets that worked better. Taking the jets off and cleaning them is as easy as capping them off, since poor performance is an issue.

Hmmm... my guess is that you want to cap the "jets" but leave the shower head... correct? I can't see any really good way that will not leave holes in the tile or unsightly caps sticking out of the wall! Have you tried soaking the jet heads in a bag of CLR (calcium/lime/rust remover)? Here, fill a sandwich baggie half-full with CLR and then tie each baggie around the jet head basically immersing the jet heads in the liquid overnight. Remove the bags in the morning and run the jet heads and see if they are improved. Hopefully, that will solve the issue.

If that fails to solve the issue and you just want to remove them then, most likely, they are simply threaded into 1/2" I.P.S. adapters and can be unscrewed using a pair of pliers (jet heads ONLY... diverter cannot be removed and capped). Install some chrome nipples and caps and get two 1/2" I.P.S. chrome escutcheons and install to cover the holes (silicone behind each escutcheon to fill holes in tile).

    Back to you...
