Plastic or Copper Tubbing for ice maker
Because of my kitchen's configuration, the water line for the ice maker must go behind the stove. Unfortunately, the plumber put in a plastic tubing line which, when using the oven, became too hot and melted the tube (water everywhere!).

Is copper tubbing OK to use for the water line? I'm hopping that the heat from the oven won't melt it too if it's safe for human consumption through this type of line.

    Thanks for your help!

    Sorry for your meltdown Ceecii,

1/8th inch copper tubing is all we used to use for icemaker lines. Then along came plastic that was cheaper and easier to install. The heat from the oven won't melt the copper line, trust me! Good luck, Tom

Ice Maker Won't Make Ice on its Own [ 0 Answers ]

In addition to the jacuzzi issue, my ice maker won't produce ice on its own. The family who lived here before me never had it connected; the refrigerator is not quite 2 years old. It's a Kitchen-Aid. If I fill up the tray with water, it eventually freezes and the ice is released. I can hear water...
