1998 Honda Accord won't crank. No click from solenoid either.
Went to start 98 Accord the other day. Was trying to start but battery seemed like it didn't have enough power. Tried to jumpstart. Would crank but not start. Replaced old battery with a new Interstate, thinking this would solve problem. Now it won't even crank over. Also, no clicking when I attempt to start.

Clean the cable connections going to the starter motor and battery, including where the neg. battery cable attaches to the car.

Perform an ignition by-pass test, by connecting a 12 AWG wire, or remote starter switch, between the positive battery terminal and the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid. If the starter motor consistently cranks, then you know the starter solenoid and starter motor are fine and that you need to focus on the starter cut relay, clutch interlock switch, ignition switch, and wiring. If the starter motor does not consistently crank, either install a new solenoid or, if your solenoid is made by Denso, you can rebuild it. The starter motor itself tends to be very reliable. Otherwise, install a new starter motor and solenoid.

Thank you very much TxGreaseMonkey. I tried that test and the starter motor didn't crank at all. So, when I decided to take the motor/solenoid out (to prepare for the replacement) I found that the wire that connects the starter motor to the solenoid was completely corroded through, which obviously was impacting the motor from cranking.
