Venting a bathtub.

I'm remodeling my upstairs bathroom. I put in a new bathtub. There's a pea-trap under the floor but no air vent for the bathtub plumbing. The air vent is downstream about a foot past the pea-trap. There is a lot of gurgling. How do I put in a proper air vent for this? Mike

Does a bathtub/shower vent through a vent that goes all the way out of the house (eg. Straight up out of the roof), or does it use the overflow for venting? Or does the entire drain stack just have 1 vent for the tub/toilet and sink? I ask because I have a very slow tub drain, and no matter how...
