Any tips on how to get rid of stress?
I find myself overwhelmed with life on a daily basis. I try little things like a to do list but nothing seems to make life easier. I am constanting thinking about my life, my family, friends, boyfriend, work, school, bills, etc. I find I cry a lot easier now than I use to. I use to be a strong person and now I just feel weak and tired. It's not that I think I am depressed or anything in that direction. For the most part I would say I am happy with my life although there are things I would like to change, but who doesn't? I am going to have my first counseling session at the end of April and I am really excited about it. I am hoping if I can vent to them that they might be able to give me a fuller perspective and better ways to cope. I have been thinking a lot lately about get physically fit and working out just because it might relieve some stress. Does anyone else have any ideas on how to relax and relieve some of this worry?

Find music that relaxes you. I learned that I breath with my chest instead of my stomach. When I focus on taking deep breaths the oxygen has a calming effect. Learn to relax all you muscles. Find positive things to think about and focus on. I find reading the paper too much or only watching the news puts me in a bad mood. Have a healthy balance of good and bad news. Eat healthy and exercise, that will immediately brighten your day. Make sure you are getting the vitamins you need. I feel better when I take Omega 3 (fish oil), maybe you could ask your doctor if they might help you.

The exercise is a great idea as it releases a " feel good " hormone.

I would arrange some for after each session with the counsellor as sometimes they can bring out the emotions so head straight for the gym to combat them!

Organize your day: take care of things that matter, and ignore those that don't.
Don't try to change other people, accept them as they are
Find a happy song and sing in aloud.
Focus on now, you can't change past, and you can make your future better only is you are focused on mow.

Get thee to a qualified massage therapist as soon as possible!

Studies show that people who don't receive enough touch have low-functioning but long-lasting stress reactions, and they occur with unnecessary and unhealthy frequency.

Swedish & deep tissue massage will help flush the stress hormones from your system, not just physically by enhancing circulation but also chemically by stimulating release of oxytocin.

Bodywork can also help amplify your work in counseling. Folks in therapy who also receive bodywork often make progress more quickly than those who don't.

I think what you doing is right you will find you first session of counceler will help and may be emotional but worth it you will feel aload lifted after it, also I am a massage therapist and would recommend taking time out and relaxing with essential oils will really help you too

Try have a soak in the bath when you feel very stressed, decide on your schedule for the day, sort this, this and this and then relax.

Get a good book that relaxes you and you like to read, or if you have a games console, when you feel stressed try playing a simple game because this is actually quite relaxing(I've tried). Music is also a good option, try have te radio playing quietly when sorting bills as it stops you feeling trapped in thoughts.
