I've recently had the flapper in my Cadet 3 toilet go bad which caused my toilet to constantly fill itself. I figured it was a good idea to replace all the internals (to prevent any other failures) since I was going to be removing the tank anyway... nope, big mistake! Now I have the fog horn...

My toilet tank won't fill with water unless I lightly touch the top of the fill valve on the left hand side of the tank. I have a santa rosa kohler toilet. As soon as I touch it or jiggle it a bit the tank fills up with water and flushes fine but the tank won't refill again. How do I fix this? ...
Will replacing my fill valve help?

I replaced the seal beneath the fill valve and the seals for the bolts that hold the tank on the toilet. The leak is still there, and it is definitely coming from the hole for the fill valve. Having already replaced the seals, will replacing the entire fill valve help?

Pipes noisy after replacing fill valve
