Telford Copper Cylinder Tempest Stainless Water Heater Leaking
I wonder if you could help me please.

We have a house which has a Telford Copper Cylinder Tempest Stainless 250 ltr tank. I went into the cupboard today and realised the tank is leaking onto the floor and it seem that the bottom seal all around has rusted and is seeping water? I didn’t even know this was possible (have never installed a new system in any of our houses) and I am panicking a little as this house is a self-catering property and I had a quick glance at the cost of a brand new one which brought a tear to my eye certainly! I wondered if there was a fix at all, i.e. a coating that can be applied etc that may stem the leak for the time being or is there a program to buy reconditioned ones perhaps?

Any help you can give me would be great, I have attached a photo in case you have any ideas.

    Sorry lf043

That looks like a shot tank and there is probably no alternative but to get a new replacement tank. Of course, you want to be sure this is not a simple leak coming from one of the fittings/tappings in the tank, but in most cases like this, replacement is the only course of action. You could try to find a used one, but that that could just mean having to replace it again close down the road and with labor rates up where they are you will be better off installing a new tank with a full warranty (check warranty on this tank as well... never know if it is still under warranty).

    Back to you..
