Extend Dishwasher Drainage Hose
We just remodeled our kitchen, and upon putting the appliances back in, we found our dishwasher drainage hose is about a 1.5' too short to make the required high loop 32" off the ground. The dishwasher is a GE model that came with a 6' plastic drainage hose, so I think replacing with a 12' drainage hose would leave too much slack. The hose drains into an Insinkerator garbage disposal. Is there a way to extend this another 1.5'? If not, what should I do with the extra slack if I replace it with a 12' drainage hose?

Home Depot used to carry generic DW drain hoses. In fact, older models used plain car heater hose which you can still use. I would not use a straight 12 ft since you will have a lot of water sitting around in the hose. You could possibly get a 12, cut it in the middle and install a piece of copper, CPVC or PEX tubing and clamps.

If you prefer to have one, continuous, drain hose, than go to Home Depot and buy 5/8" black rubber hose that is 8' long. Replace the original with this new hose. Make the loop and connect to GD. Trim as needed.
Get two 1 1/4" stainless steel clamps with your new hose, too. Milo |

Woohoo!! Thanks guys, I was able to get a 5/8" thick rubber dishwasher hose at Home Depot, and with the use of a couple of barb fittings and some clamps, I was able to extend the hose the needed additional length to make the high loop. I'm not sure I'm going to tell my wife it's working yet, she made me do a lot of yard work last weekend.
