Can my doctor sign me of work?
I am 21 weeks pregnant with my first child. Almost everyday I get very uncomfortable back pain especially if I've been moving a lot. And if I'm standing for a long period I feel weak and just want to sit. I get light headed for no reason sometimes as well. There was an incident at work that I almost passed out and everything in my vision went black. I don't know if I should ask my doctor to sign me off work until I have the baby or if she could even do that. Thoughts?

    Hi :)

I don't know if she would sign you off until you have the baby, but what most doctors tend to do would be to sign you off for a couple weeks, then have you come back and talk about how you're doing.

Hope the pain goes away soon! :(

A lot depends on what your job provides in terms of short term disability and FMLA. If your doctor certifies that you can't work, you shouldn't have to, but you might not get paid for it.

I would like to add that what you are feeling can be very normal for pregnancy. Make sure you stay well hydrated.
