Basement Toliet/Shower makes loud clanking noise in pipes when used?
Hi, our basement bathroom when water is draining or the toilet is being flushed makes a loud clanking type noise. When you flush the toilet, its drains a little, clanks than drains, clanks. The pipes sound as if they are vibrating. Any idea as to what this could be?

Shut the water off to the toilet and lift the lids. Twist the top and pull up. Remove the black washer and place a pan over the open valve. Now turn the water back on for a minute to flush out the supply. Reassemble and test. Better now? Good luck, Tom

I took off the cap but can't seem to twist and pull up. I'm afraid of breaking it.

It seems once you flush, it starts to fill, stops, then starts to fill and stops and repeats this pattern.

Simply twist counterclockwise and pull up. Then flush it out. Good luck, Tom
