Can I sign a waiver to NOT sue for lead poisoning
I live in a home that has lead poisoning in the home but I also have a 3yr old granddaughter that sleeps over once in awhile. Is there anything I can sign to make sure my landlord is not liable?

    Why would you want to?

You probably cannot sign away your granddaughter's right to sue, unless it is a part of a settlement on behalf of the minor. In many states such settlements have to be judicially approved in order to be binding.

I will assume you mean lead paint. If the child doesn't chew on it or it isn't flaking, no real issue, it doesn't evaporate and just be in the air.

You can sign away your rights, as you're an adult. But your grandchild, at the age of 3, cannot sign away her rights.

Her parents can sign that they are okay with her staying in a home that has lead poisoning (your words) but once the child turns 18, if she has any issues related to lead poisoning, she could still sue the landlord.

Her parents cannot sign away her rights. They can sign away theirs, so they can't sue if their child gets sick as long as she's a child in their care. But they can't sign away the child's rights once she becomes an adult.

You may as noted sign away your rights. You can not sign away the child's rights, or their parents rights.

Or the government's rights to seek damages, if for example, the child or you become ill and receive state funds.

In fact, why would you want to sign away your rights?
