I'm 19 and have had the jadelle implant in my arm for almost 2 years, for the past 2 days my breasts around the nipple area have been quite tender only if pressure is put on them. I've never had this happen to me before so it's concerning me that it's the first time. I have had unprotected sex because I thought the jadelle was sufficient. My periods are always irregular so it's hard to tell when I would be considered late, I took a pregnancy test and it said negative but being online has freaked me out, a lot of people say sore breasts are a very early sign and may be too early for the test to work. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's possible, as no birth control will be 100% effective, but with irregular cycles, you won't necessarily have a missed period to go by.

Sore nipples can be an early sign of pregnancy, many women will notice it even with something brushing against them, but changes in hormone levels can also be a cause, which may be a possibility given your irregular cycles.

You could continue to try a pregnancy test once a week for a few weeks, or you could ask your doctor to do a blood test. Odds are that you aren't pregnant but certainly finding out for certain one way or the other will give you some peace of mind.
