So, your parents are incorrect. Success has nothing to do with a name. Shema is a nice name. More important than your name is what education you get and what skills you have -- and how well you will use them.

Pure silliness, there are people who do well with any name. Having a certain name has little to do with your future. What matters is what you do to achieve and do well.

That's their mistake, why they choose this name for you, and If you believe anything can happen so why don't you don't believe in those myths! You have a good name. But if they force you can choose SEEMA, SNEHA, etc.

Do you like your name? Do you want to change it?

If you like your name, keep it. If you don't, then think about what you would prefer to be called.

I think you should stick to what you want - if you want to keep your name, you need to say it and keep your position. What if this person will tell them that brunettes are unlucky, you will then need to dye your hair? Speak up and try to explain what you feel and try to negotiate.
