Worried about my etg/alcohol urine test
I'm hoping Dr. Bill or somebody will put my mind at ease, I am totally stressed out about being possibly tested this Monday and please no rude comments. I drink heavily on Friday and all day Saturday, white zinfandale. I drank about 6 liters between those two days. Today is Sunday and I've been drinking fluids all day that have antioxidents in them, I've had now about 3 liters. If I have a EtG test on Monday, it will have been 36 hours with a EtG cut off 500. Do you think I'm screwed?

Most likely. Drinking water with antioxidants has nothing to help except fail for dilution. "I drink heavily on Friday and all day Saturday". If you drink that much wine in 2 days, you do need professional help, not being rude but logical.

Yeah, you don't have too much of a good chance at passing. But you already knew that.

Dr. Bill is not posting here anymore, he's following other endeavors. I can't imagine there is anyone here that will be able to put your mind at ease, given the scenario you have described. Fluids and antioxidants will not change the outcome, unless you drink so much liquid that your test is diluted. The liver has to metabolize those 6 liters and nothing but time will accomplish that.

Get help with that obvious alcohol addiction before it lands you in jail and eventually kills you. Yes it WILL do that eventually.

I've known people as young as their 30's die from the direct result of drinking....and we aren't talking accidents that result FROM drinking. But death in the absense of an accident. And I knew far, far more that died as the result of someone drinking and leaving their house causing or having accidents....some of them were the ones drinking, others died as the result of someone else that was drinking.

I stressed out all day yesterday and thank gawd that I didn't have to test. I can't remember the last time I was sooo stressed out. I am so done with binge drinking. I'm going to AA, this last binge lasted 8 days! I couldn't freaking stop. Today I have 2 days and I'm going to stay on the wagon. Thanks for your support.

Good for you! Sometimes the stress of testing does do good things.

It won't be easy to quit, but you can do it. AA is a good start.

I wish you the best of luck. If you ever need to talk, we're all here for you in any way you need. The road to recovery can be difficult, but you can do it! :)

Best of luck! A.A. has saved my job, my family (still healing) and my life(still trying to improve). Someone much older and wiser than I told me in early sobriety that if you put half the energy into A.A. that you did into drinking you'll have no problem. Simple, but not easy... I hope you stick with it.

Just remember that alcoholism is a disease. You wouldn't try to cure cancer on your own, so why would you try to cure this on your own?

You need the support, and AA is a good place to start. If you have a setback, just start back at square one. You can do this. Have faith in yourself. :)

90 hours sober... starting to go to AA; I don't think I've ever felt scared in my life! On Sunday I spent about 10 hours trying to find a way to clean out my system... I'm glad it happened because it woke me up. I read everything from water purifying tablets, cerco canning jel, drinking baking soda , and carherizing yourself right before the test with fake pee. I'm just glad I didn't have to do that and I'm sober tonight... Amen

Get help, record or write to yourself, how stressed you are now, about possibly failing the test. ** You would have failed if you had tested. Also drinking so much liquid to clear system can cause a fail also.

I am about 30 years sober, but it never ends, this will be a issue you will always have to consider and deal with.
