    Who is the father?
    Hello,
Question my last period was 06/14/2014 finished the 20th or 21st. Well I had intercourse 21st but it was after midnight so it was 22nd at 2 or 3 am. It was with a person who took advantage of me that night. I also had sex with my ex 26th but I remember he didn’t in me and the 28th he did in me a lot…,who could be the father? I’m scared of who is the dad?
    Thanks

Either. When there has been unprotected ejaculation by more than one person during a cycle than there is no way to know who is the father. It will have to be a DNA test once the child is born, if there is no other obvious way to tell. The problem lies in that you have NO idea when you ovulate. People will say you ovulate two weeks after your period starts, but it has been seen that women can ovulate at ANY point in their cycle. So it might be Person 1's child if you ovulated early or person 2's if you didn't. The due date is calculated from your last mentsrual cycle, IE it will be about March 21st in your case, so tracking back is useless as well as the "You're X weeks along" won't help. The only way to know for sure is a DNA test.

At this point, no one can know. You need to wait till baby is born and do a DNA test. Sorry, but conception dates is just estimates.

Calculating conception is an inexact science. You had sexual encounters a week apart. There is no way to determine who is the father in that situation until the child is born and DNA tests can be done.

As was mentioned, tell both of them now... after the child is born a DNA test will have to be done and only then can you determine who the lucky man is.

I'm going to disagree with smoothy here. I don't think you need to tell both of them. But you do need to tell the one that you want it to be that you had another encounter. Then test him first after the child is born. If he isn't the father then you need to tell the other guy.

For clarity as to why I said what I said since Scott raises a valid point, I said both for the reason one or both of them might move out of the area for work or whatever during the pregnancy and it might become very difficult to locate them if you wait until later since they might not have a clue you are pregnant and that they might be the father. It happens more often than you might think.

Good reasons, but I would still be inclined to wait.

Because under certain circumstances sperm can survive up to a week in the female body and pre-ejaculate can contain sperm, it will take a DNA test to know which male is the father.

I, too, suggest telling both men. You aren't currently involved with either male so it isn't like you are protecting a relationship. Also the one night stand (probably the one you don't want it to be) may disappear before a DNA test can be done or could start asking awkward questions when you start showing. I doubt you want him asking other friends how far along you are and working out that he could be the father.

I highly suggest that you do not even think about getting back with your ex due to the pregnancy. Unless the two of you have worked out all of the issues that caused you to break-up then this will not change anything except add new issues to old ones.

If you go on pregnology.com and you put in your last period it tells you exactly when you ovulated, implanted, conceived and your due date.

Ovulation date: Sun, 29 June 2014
Conception date: Sun, 29 June 2014
Implantation date: Tue, 8 July 2014
Due date: Sat, 21 March 2015
Your pregnancy begins at conception. (Sun, 29 June 2014) Your due date is 266 days (38 weeks) later. We will use the more popular numbering, starting 14 days before your conception. According to this, you are already 2 weeks pregnant at the time of conception, making your total pregnancy last 40 weeks, or 280 days

Yes, and I would definitely agree with the calculations of an online site to get accurate results as to when you ovulated and conceived. Really...how can a website accurately tell you that?

As others said, it's too close to tell...and no app or website is going to know.

Melissa, do you really believe a web site can accurately predict a conception date? Your OB/Gyn will tell you your due date and conception date are guesstimates that can be 2 or more weeks off. And they will have examined you!

Sites like pregnology are GUIDELINES that give an estimate based on the information you provide. But each woman is different and no website can accurately predict such things. As I said its an inexact science.

Its nice that you want to help our members, but we pride ourselves on the accuracy of the advice we give here. Predicting conception from a calculator on a web site is not going to be accurate.

Online calculators go off a 28 day cycle, which not everyone has. Add to that, ovulation can vary from woman to woman and even for an individual on occasion. Most women will have a fairly consistent luteal phase... the number of days between ovulation and their period, for themselves, but this too can vary a bit from woman to woman. And to add even more into the mix... implantation can occur early for some women and a week later for others. The number of days for gestation is not exact either.

As Scott said, they give you a starting place, but if women were to follow something like that in an attempt to achieve pregnancy, many would be trying for a very long time, possibly never achieve pregnancy, because they could off quite a bit and even a few days can make all the difference.
