Why is pregnancy scan not detecting my baby?
I am 31years old, my last period was March 29th. I have done blood pregnancy test 3 times and its positive. I have undergone scan 3 times as well but my baby is not seen. What is going on?

What does your doctor say about your ultrasound results? Has he given an opinion?

I agree, at this point, you sit down with the doctor and discuss the options

Are you taking any medications? There are a few that can give false positives, but they are not widely used. When did you take the pregnancy tests? When did you have the scans done?

Are you thinking that you were pregnant soon after your last period?

I'm not taking medications. I did the blood test on 2nd week of May since my period didn't show up on April 29th as l thought. I have the 1st scan on May 20th, the 2nd scan on June 20th and the 3rd scan August 13th. But nothing was shown. I do have signs of pregnancy except vomiting

What has your doctor said? It could be that you had a loss... sometimes tests will show positive for awhile even when a pregnancy is no longer there.

If you still showed positive on a blood test at this point, and scans show no signs of pregnancy in any location, further testing would be needed. There are some medical conditions that could account for a continued positive result.

The doct said that l should go for hormonal X-ray. But is it necessary? Because l do feel the movement of baby in my body. I also have pregnancy symptoms except vomiting. I have under Pelvic scan and the impression is normal pelvic findings.

I don't bleed. What can be a result of this? I do feel tender movement in my body sometimes and it started during this my pregnancy. Is it that the baby is hiding or something?

Feelings of movement would not necessarily be a baby movng around, but could be intestines shifting and giving that feeling. I agree with the hormonal check your doctor suggested because your body could have pregnancy hormones still present even though there is no baby. At times the hormones take time shifting back to normal. Not every woman has vomitting issues during pregnancy.

The theory of the baby hiding could only be during the first 2 months when it is no bigger then a jelly bean and sometimes becomes hidden behind another body organ in the same position.

If you are not happy with your doctor's instructions then get a second opinion. But really, this is something you need to discuss with a physician. Clearly something is going on with your body, if you have not had a period since March. But we can only guess, you need to be examined by a physician, have the proper tests taken etc.

By now, there should certainly be fetal presence IF you are pregnant. They don't "hide" at 5 months, something else is happening.

Was the blood test in early May the only one that you had? In your first post you mentioned having had three.

If that was the only one, again you may have had an early loss. Some women will indeed continue to have some pregnancy symptoms of a phantom pregnancy. Strangle, this can include an expanding abdomen, but other reasons can cause that as well, for example a growing tumor.

If you have had more recent positives, you need to have that looked into. There are some medical conditions that can be the cause, a few potentially serious.

It can happen that a pregnancy goes unnoticed when a woman does not suspect it and has few signs, or if she doesn't want to acknowledge the possibility, but it won't happen when a doctor is actively looking for one. Something would be noticed... gestational sac early on, changes to cervix and uterus, simply being able to feel the growth of the uterus, and obviously a baby, even when rarely developing outside the uterus.

Listen to your doctor and have further testing done. Only then will you know what is going on.
