    Shower faucet/spout broke off
Hi all new to the site just had a quick question

So the other night I'm in my apartment taking a shower when all of a sudden the spout / faucet shoots off... of course the shower stops and then there's nothing but a powerful stream of water shooting out of the main pipe that headed directly towards my... stuff.

I tried to screw it back on but it broke off again once I put the shower on. I looked a little closer and saw that the black (o ring?) piece of rubber was broken and half missing... so the faucet can't secure itself on the pipe once it's screwed on... I guess?

Do I need a whole new faucet or can I just get a new rubber o ring piece? The shower/tub set up in my apartment is pretty old. I can get the landlord involved but if there's a simple fix I'd rather just do it myself.

    Thanks

What you need is a tub spout. There are two types. There is the screw on type and there is the slip on type. What you need is the slip on type. Cost from $10-15 and up.
Take old spout to hardware store, Home Depot or Lowe's. Ask for assistance in plumbing department to get proper replacement. The new spout will slip on the pipe coming out of the wall and a screw on the underside is tightened to keep it in place.

Simple to replace and install but this really is the landlord's responsibility.

I agree with Harold. If the pipe the spout was on has no threads then you indeed, need a slip on spout. Good luck, Tom
