    Water Heater Problems
Would a small leak in cold water pipe above electric water heater cause a short and result in no hot water? It is pooling in the two indentations on top of heater. Drips down opposite side of all electric connections. It's a new whirlpool. No hot water. Hitting reset button does nothing. Changed Lower heating element then thermostat. Still nothing. Both read bad on multi-meter. Heater is only two weeks old. Haven't had chance to fix the small leak yet

First things first. Things that leak! If both elements check bad then you must have been the power on without first filling the tank. Shut the power off and drain the heater. Now replace those elements and turn the breaker back on. Do you have power to the lower element? Back to you, Tom

Pilot went out, no problem relighting. BUT when I turn up the thermostat, the flame gets out of control and escapes from the two protective doors. It has started melting the plastic on the outside of the tank around the drain valve.
