1998 Honda Accord V6 intrmittent engine trouble
My 1998 Honda Accord V6 V-tech engine is experiencing intermittent stalls. I drive 33 miles one way each day to and from work. I can get half way before I experience any stalls and it typically starts when I am running at higher speeds. So far it has not shut off completely, it just gets real jerky but if I push down on the gas it will recover. I took the car to local Honda dealer for service and they told me I needed a new fuel pump. They replaced it and I still had the same problem. I took it back and now they tell me I need a new Catalytic converter. I don't know whether to trust them. Any ideas what could be the problem here?

Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil inside the distributor. This should solve your problem and hopefully save your catalytic converter, as well. Be sure to apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM; otherwise, it won't last long. Presently, the incomplete combustion of gas, due to a failing ICM and/or coil, is damaging your catalytic converter.

Keep us posted with the results. Aftermarket ICMs and coils are fine and cheaper than OEM.

I replaced the ICM, coil, rotor, distributor cap, plugs and cables, and fuel pump and filter. I still have the problem. I'm at a loss!

I had a 98 V-6 that had a transmission problem that acted like this. Are you sure if it's the engine causing you the problem?

Check for codes. Check/replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
