    Child abandonment or not
    Hi my 9 year old son and I live in Savannah, Georgia. My son's dad up and left us when my son was 4. He won't pay his child support and the enforcement agency is not doing anything because he is all the way on the west coast. I am struggling alone . What else can I do? They continue to tell me that they are unable to locate him.

    Abandomnent in Georgia, is failure to pay court ordered child support..

    So I will assume: you have a custody order for child.
    There is a court ordered support agreement.

    He is not paying it.

    The issue with abandonment is the same as with collection... if he can not be found, it is not going to do any good.

    Have your hired an attorney to try and take him back to court ? Hired someone to locate him?

    As Chuck noted, failure to support your child is called Abandonment in GA. But what do you think that will do for you? If the Collection agency can't find him, charging him with Abandonment is not going to help.
