    My fan works but the light is shorted out.
    I was changing one of the light bulbs on my hamptonbay ceiling fan and the fan lights shorted out. The fan works, the switch seems to be good but the lights won't come on.

    new fans are very inexpensive...

    You may have to change all of the bulbs.
