It all depends on WHY you was fired... I've seen a a few guys fired that were union who got NO help (trust me THEY deserved to be fired)... and a few others that did get help.

Why haven't you asked your Shop Steward, or your union rep?

In which case he's had a long, LONG time to contact his union... and I wonder why he hasn't, or he has and didn't get an answer he was hoping to hear.

After this long... its safe to assume the union isn't going to back you... and you probably aren't getting the job back. Or the Union would have told you something or given you updates.

Time to be seriously looking for another job....anything bad enough for a union to throw you under the bus for...it going to keep you from collecting unemployment benifits.....based on what I've learned in 20 years in a union job.

Severance is always based on the years you have worked for the company (and under the contract in this case) . And it will be very clearly spelled out in the contract....what you wrote isn't very clear and that article will be a LOT longer.

If you think you are owed half a months pay severance after working for only a month....I think you have seriously misread and misunderstood the contract.

Two weeks pay per YEAR of completed service ...is a very generous severance package for a contract....but you aren't getting 6 months severance pay ANYPLACE on earth for every year of service.

After only one month you aren't getting much if anything for severance. And after only one month in the union... don't expect them to be doing much to help you. You haven't even gotten through the probationary period MOST jobs have.

Start applying for other jobs in other places....I think you are wasting your time hoping to get hired back at this place.
