Fainting when standing?
Whenever I stand up from getting out of bed, sitting down, etc I feel like I am about to faint. My vision goes black and I have to immediately squat down until I can see again, then stand up slowly. No dizziness occurs. I weigh 110 lbs & am 5 foot 8. What could be causing this? It happens 3+ times a day & is very annoying to say the least. I am also 16 years old if that helps. I do not take any medications and never have.
Thank you for your help!

Lack of blood to the brain. This could be a serious condition and needs to be addressed by your doctor.

If you are 16 and living at home with your parents. Are they aware of this serious problem ? If so, they need to take you to the doctor NOW. The problem is, you could be out in public and have this happen, which could be a disaster for you. I hope you carry lots of ID.
There is no way you can get disagnosis for this on line.

What is your nutritional and calorie intake like? How much fluids to you take in most days? A very simple reason could be low blood sugar if you are not eating regularly throughout the day, or not enough fluids, which can cause a drop in blood pressure when you change position. Obviously, if increasing your fluids and eating healthy food choices throughout the day don't cause a change, see your doctor.

You need to go to the doctor... you can't be diagosed on the internet... so talk to your parents about this and have them take you.

This is extremely serious and you need to go to the doctor, even the ER.. to many possible issues, some life threatening.

@DoulaLC thank you I will try drinking more fluids and making healthier choices! My calorie intake is probably 1600 calories per day and I drink at least 4 servings of fluids per day.

IT is amazing how you pick your advice. The symptoms will point to low blood pressure, something that is DEADLY if left untreated. This is not something that you can treat at home through diet alone. You need to get this checked out. You don't need to change your diet. You need to go to a doctor.

She's 16... she believes she already knows almost everything there is to learn.
That's a belief that gets many, many people into life threatening situations and even dead far too often.
Even doctors go to other doctors when they get sick.

@smoothy I do not believe that I know everything. I have plenty left to learn, and I hate when teenagers are stereotyped into an unfair point of mind. However, I have taken everyone's advice and made an appointment with a local doctor. Thank you for all your information.

Every one of us have been teenagers... and we have the benefit of having known far more than you have, and having the added benift if seeing this through the clarity and knowledge of being adults.
There is nothing unfair, or incorrect in our statements... most teenagers will find out many of their beliefs are wrong, Unsually within their first ten years of being responsible for themselves and having to support themselves.
Again... WE know this because we have been where you are now. And we all learned these lessons too. As will you.
And trust me... many College students graduate thinking they know everything they need to know... only to find out how little they really do know and that their real education is only just beginning. High school and College are only laying the groundwork to learn just like elementary school did for Jr and Sr High school.
Every time you walk into a new job.. its like your first day at a new school... only you don't know all your classmates.
Funny thing about education......the more you learn.....the more you understand how much more there is to learn, and how little of it you actually do know.
Glad you are going to listen to at least some of the advice.
