    PCI Solts/Cards
    Please advise!

    How do I know if a computer has a PCI Slot, thinking of buying my sisters computer but need to know if it has a PCI slot as I will want to be able to connect it to my wireless network as I do not have a phone line in the room I would like the computer to be in?

    Firstly is this possible?

    And how can I tell if the computer has a PCI Slot and is it easy to fit a card in?

    Thanks

    I'm guessing you want a spare PCI slot to put a wireless card into it then?

    I'd say pretty much every modern PC has PCI slots, but you need to see if it has any spare!

    Can you open the case up?

    At the rear of the machine's motherboard you're looking for long, thin slots, it's likely that one or two of them will have cards poking out of them vertically.

    Depending on the age of the machine you're looking for;

    Newer - PCI Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Older - Peripheral Component Interconnect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    (Look at the photos on the right!)

    Hi,I will try to explain this as easy as I can,a PC has 3 PCI slots and 1 graphics card slot,the white ones are the PCI slots and the brown 1 is the graphics Slot,Put your PCI card in any one of the White PCI slots,make sure you hear it click into slot,secure it with screw.is as easy as that,you can also use a wirless PCI card in 1 of the PCI slots,run the software to receive signal from your wirless router,get in touch if you need any more help on this,margaret
