Sudsy soft water after using reverse osmosis
Hi, We have a water softener for all our house water. We have a reverse osmosis system for drinking water. I was rinsing a glass in the r/o system the other day. I rinsed it about five times and I began to notice instead of it getting less soapy, the more I slapped the glass with my hand, the more sudsy it became. I tried it with a glass straight from the cupboard and same thing. Is it normal that water after running through a reverse osmosis system exhibits suds? It also still FEELS slippery like soft water does. Does this mean the r/o system is not filtering properly? I would think if it was removing the salt from the water softener it wouldn't suds up and feel slippery, unless once soft water becomes 'soft' it maintains these qualities. Anyone else experience this or have any idea? Thanks!

    Hello JK25,

I would replace filters first. Not sure what system you have but you may have several filters installed in sequence. So, pay attention to filter numbering and install them as per instructions. Also, membrane may be bad. Once you replace filters, and water is still not coming out clear, replace the membrane. Remember, R.O. filtrates very slowly; it takes at least 24 hours for the first tank to refill with one gallon of filtrated water. So it will take few days to find out whether the filter replacement worked or not.

Hope that helps. Back to you. Milo
