Washing machine and dishwasher not draining
Hi just installed a new dishwasher into my kitchen, its brand new. The drainpipe connects to a dual trap under the sink, the other side of which connects to my washing machine.
On the first cycle of the dishwasher it hasn't drained properly, its making the noises like its trying but no water is draining out. I thought maybe I had choked the hose when pushing it under the counter.
In the meantime I put my washing machine on - and now this won't drain either.
The plumbing under the sink was only designed for 1 appliance so I have fitted the dual trap under the sink myself and both run of the cold hose by a y adaptor.
So it's a brand new trap under the sink, and all water is draining if I pour down the sink itself.
I'm very confused what might be causing this - if anyone can help before I pull them both out and undo all the plumbing again!
    Thanks

What did you discharge the DW into? A disposal? Branch tailpiece? Is the sink backing up? Let me know, Tom

Tub draining into washing machine? [ 2 Answers ]

Hi! My front load washing machine occasionally has water (1-2 gallons) in it even though it has not been in use. I suspect the bathroom shower/tub upstairs may somehow be leaking water (draining) into the machine when it receives heavy use. Is this even possible and who should I call, a plumber...
