    no period in a year
I have not had a period in about a year. About 3 years ago a doctor told me I had signs of pcos. About a year later another doctor said that was untrue. Therefore I'm not sure if I have it or not . That being said, I was in 7th grade when I had my first menstrual cycle . It was regulated for about a year or two I suppose then it went from regular heavy periods to a period hear and there. I am now 19 years old and graduated ,I am sexually active. I did have sex about 3 or 4 days ago , it was not my first time but , sense the day I had sex I've had slight bleeding and severe cramps . Im not sure what it is , and I was curious about my chances lf getting pregnant. We didn't have protection. I was told by family and friends that you can't get pregnant if you don't have periods. Figured id talk to a professional to seek their opinion on all of this.

You are actually asking several questions here, and they really need to be answered after a thorough exam and some tests. There are too many possible reasons for your condition. Also, no woman should be having sex, especially unprotected, without regular visits to a clinic or OB/GYN.
When it comes to ability to get pregnant, never say never. Your chances are greatly reduced without periods, that's all.

    Hi MickieBear,

You can get pregnant if you don't have a period as long as you are ovulating. However, often if you are not having periods you are not ovulating either. Your period comes from your body preparing for ovulation by building the lining of the uterus in case a fertilized egg will be implanted. If no egg is released, fertilized, and implanted then the lining is shed... this is your period. With irregular cycles, a woman could not see a period for months, but then in a random cycle the hormones are in sync, she does ovulate, and pregnancy could happen if she happened to have sex around that time.

The bleeding and cramping you have had, may be due to the recent sex. It could be a period, it could be due to other hormonal changes, it could be due to an infection. As joypulv said, you should see a gynecologist since you are sexually active and due to not having a period for so long. It very well could be that you have PCOS, which can be dealt with, but further evaluation would need to be done for that determination.
