I having a problem with my shower or shower faucet at my summer home. I do not know make or model, but it is single volume control. I get cold water fine, but as I raise the volume into the hot water, all water cuts out and no water will run till I shut completely off and start at the cold again. I replace the cartridge with a model that is close but not right (I can not put the handle back on but can use pliers to turn on the water) but I am having the same problem.

First off, take the old cartridge in place of a shopping and get the correct replacement. When you have the valve apart turn the water back on to flush out the supplies. Now tell me how often you flush your water heater out. If you don't shut your heater mineral buildup will occur and block the cartridge. Do you need instructions on how to flush your heater?
