    Recharging batteries
Hi I've built an electric go-kart with two power chair drive motors and batteries.my question is, can I install a alternator or a 24volt dc motor on a belt drive system to recharge the batteries while driving.if it can be done how would I wire it,and if it can't be done thanks 2 all who reply.also two 12volt sealed batteries.

Power wheel chair batteries while most really have 14 volt, ( I know they say 12 on them) work together for a 24 volt system. So you would need a 24 volt charge not a 12 volt change. Also, the amount of change you will get would be very minimal and not worth the effort.

Would the minimal charge be enough to keep the batteries from completely draing

That's too much like perpetual motion! Yes you can generate power and recharge batteries. However, the motor drain coupled with friction and efficiency loss will not keep the batteries charged. That's why even sophisticated electric cars cannot go more than 50-60 miles.
