I have been having "irritable" bowels issues for a while but last week the cramps were extreme and debilitating for weeks, so I did an enema.. Well that did its job but 8 day as later. And no go.. built-in. Should I be concerned? Or is it normal?

How could cramps and debilitation be normal? Constipation can be temporary, of course, from something like lack of fiber, dehydration, a pre-menstrual sign, or pregnancy. But there are plenty of more serious conditions for which it is a symptom and needs to be examined. Women especially can have constipation from sagging organs, and the intestines can fall out the vagina or more rarely the rectum.
IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is very real in both men and women, and may switch between diarrhea and constipation. There are many blogs online devoted to people with IBS, because there is no easy cure.

Those are just a few reasons to see a doctor if constipation persists and is painful. Enemas are fine as long as you aren't dependent on them on a regular basis.
