The only thing that worked for me was cold turkey. But you have really got to get yourself psyched up to do it. Make sure friends and family know you want to stop so they can support you and talk you out of lighting up.
I tried the gum, the patch and weening down. Cold turkey was the only way for me - but everyone is different.
Good Luck! It is the best gift you can give yourself!

Easiest way, don't buy any, don't pick one up, just walk away and stop.

I always give in to temptation though and when I'm stressed I have that's my way of relief

Nicotine is a drug, it becomes an addiction. Simply walking away does not work for all people.
One of my fellow nursing students just quit one day after spending an entire day in the hospital during clinicals and tried to nurse people who suffered from emphysemia, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
That was enough to make him quit. He got on the "gum" but is now addicted to the gum.
Good luck to you. It is a hard drug to quit.

Forgive me if this is rude, but where do you get the money from? Can a parent or friend hold your money so you don't have it to buy them?

Ask your mother to not give you the money, just have her keep it. Nag them to stop, too. I stopped over 9 years ago and still list "stopping smoking" as one of my life's achievements when asked.
I now look at my wrinkled lips from the years of smoking. Think about how pretty you will be at 40 if you stop the premature wrinkling now!
