    Payment of debt
I was served a summons on 4/11/2014. I talked to the collector and I made a payment offer they accepted as in full. They accepted the payment May 6, 2014. Do I need to follow up with the court? And if so, with which form? It was with Maricopa County Superior Court.

Do I need a specific request to the creditor to inform the court?

I hope you also got that in writing that it was accewpted as payment in full for the debt. And that they released you from that debt.

I would contact the court myself and verify that they had contacted them, and provide the proof I hope you got in writing that the debt has been settled. They should do it but don't assume they will, make sure they (the Court) gets a copy of the paperwork from you.

Make sure the hearing has actually been cancelled and don't just assume it was. Until you get notification from the court the hearing is cancelled....plan to show up and present the proof of settlement.

This is called covering your butt.

Any offer and acceptance has to be in writing, it is common for collections to verbally say yes, so the collector can start getting paid and money. Then later, you find, there is no record of that debt. Also it is common even with an agreement for them to go to court. So if there is a court date, you go, with signed written agreement.

But you provide court proof of agreement, where they accepted agreement and agree to drop the court action at this time
