    Irregular periods of my girlfriend
My girlfriend is having irregular periods. And because of that I suggested her to take checkup. She went there to a nearby hospital for checkup, and got the meds and told me that it's nothing to worry.

But am a bit worried about her health. That's why I want to confirm with some other experts here, whether she needs good care about her health or is there nothing to worry.

She told me that irregular periods might lead to infertility in the future. When I heard that, am a bit tensed too! I did some searching on Google and found that, some pills prescribed by the docs might causes the infertility problems.

I have the doc's prescription, to whom she had went for checkup today. So, if you could take a look at it and see if those pills are good to consume or not, I would be very gladful.

She is 23 years of age, now doing studying.

Let me know if there is anything to get worried. Am really tensed about her health.

    Thank you

    Hi abcfromindia,

What her doctor has ordered is what would be expected when first trying to treat irregular periods. She will have additional blood work done and an ultrasound to check for possible causes. One possibility that they are looking at is PCOS, which is a common reason women may have irregular cycles

The Primelut is a progesterone type medication that is used to try and restart her periods. Progesterone is a hormone that naturally rises prior to a period. If someone becomes pregnant, progesterone will stay elevated to support a pregnancy. If pregnancy does not occur, progesterone level drops and a women then has her period. The idea is that she will have a period once she finishes the medication as prescribed.

The possibility of infertility partly comes from having irregular periods. If she is not having regular periods, she is not likely ovulating on a regular basis, so that will lessen the chances of pregnancy. By trying to help hormone levels get back to normal, periods may become regular, and she may then be ovulating on a regular basis as well.

The Pramet is simply a very good vitamin supplement.

It looks like her doctor is being quite thorough in what they are checking. If either of you have any concerns or questions, certainly call the doctor as they would be happy to explain things more clearly.
