    Waiting for marriage?
Is waiting to have sex for marriage simply a religious restraint? It seems like nearly everyone my age is having pre-marital sex except me. I'm not going to do it just because the next person does. Wondering if anyone has insight about why this is.

Are you asking why people are having pre marital sex?

With due respect to your religion, I think the answer is really simple.

Not everyone, shares the same values and sex is, well, fun. Also love exists outside of marriage and were love exists sex, not always but most often, will exist too.

I come from a catholic country, am catholic myself.

This day and age, people follow their instincts more than anything.
Im proud to read that you are not jumping into bed with someone because everyone else is, keep that up and well done.

I was in the same situation as you, many many years ago when I was 16.
Im glad I waiting for the right person.

First not everyone is having sex, more people "talk" about it than actually do it, since they don't want to make their fiends think they are not. ( esp guys, god only knows the lies about "scoring" guys tell)

But yes our moral values are based normally on society norms and relgions, without those we would be free to kill anyone we wanted, or merely act out animal instints. So yes religion has a lot to do with it. And many people prefer to honor those commitments, so you will find many who do wait, ( or at least wait till they are in a long term commitment, not on the third date or worst the first)

The idea of "hooking" up and having sex with people you don't really know is more of a animal instict for the fun of the moment

But as noted, you are not alone in waiting, but sadly most don't talk about it, since in a immoral soceity doing the right thing is often talked about.

I'm a non denominational christian and god says to wait until you're married. The world may say do it but god says to wait which I will do. I really am glad on how you don't just let guys talk you into it because they will and then dump you. You're really taking this well and don't be discouraged I really respect how you waited and didn't want to have sex to have sex. You'll get your heartbroken and if you let them control you lyk that then there won't be an end. Some guys actually do lyk there wife to be pure others want them to be experienced. I hope that this will help you and if you have any questions about my "religion" (I hate calling it a religion there's no such word to me.) or about what you should do then feel free to talk to me.

Well, I don't really plan to get married. I NEVER plan to have children. When I feel that I am mature enough and in a stable relationship I am not going to deny myself (as well as my partner) the pleasures of intimacy.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told that God loves me anyway.
Well, I sure hope he does...

He does love you no matter what don't get me wrong but he wants us to follow him, love him, and do what he commands - the right thing
