Day night furnace not coming on

My furnace/ac has stopped coming on. The sensor light is blinking code 24 which says it is a possible reversed polarity or a short in the 24v. What do I need to check?

I have a day and night furnace. When turned on at certain temp, it will light up and Shut. Tries to light up but no avail. Pilot will come on but seems there is no gas. Makes noise.
