    Replaced GFCI Outlet
I replaced my GFCI outlet with a regular outlet. The regular outlet works, but the outlet to the left and the outlet to the right don't work. What would cause this?

I do apologize for the delay.

May I ask why you replaced the GFCI receptacle?

To better understand the process the process you used, I need to know what was connected to the receptacle you replaced. For example was it just one cable or two cables?

Did the GFCI receptacle work properly prior to your replacing it? What room is this new receptacle in? If for example this receptacle is in the kitchen serving countertop space, then it has to be a GFCI receptacle or a receptacle that is protected by either a GFCI Breaker or GFCI receptacle providing downstream protection.

Can you help us a little here?

The GFCI had a Line and Load designation. How did you wire the new outlet and as Don asks, why remove an important safety device?
