3.5 years of contraception and trying for a second child but still not pregnant
Hi. I've been off my contraception for 3.5 years now and still not pregnant! My daughter is 7 already. I am battling with my periods for the past 9 months the starting time is on time every month but here is the worry as well, the number of days is every month different some times 3 days then 4 and then 7 days was the longest so far, my flow veries as well sometimes it's a lot and sometimes normal, the colour is deep dark red and if my period pains are bad the I get lumps as well, I use Li-lets, my pain is every month strong and bad the first day, it's the same as just when I started my periods at the age of 13/14, my legs feel sometimes as if the are numb. Please can you maybe help with an answer? Thanks

It all depends on why your periods are so off. Hormonal birthcontrol can make it more difficult afterwards, but that should only be for half a year to a year at best. There sounds like there's something else going on. Have you been checked out by your doctor?

Yes I went to my gyny he did respond to that, the only thing he did was to send me for a fertility test and my husband for a sperm count but we need to save up the money because our medical aid doesn't pay for it and it's quiet expensive. So now we are in the dark until we've got the money.

Fertility treatments are expensive. No doubt about that. I just wanted to drop in and wish you good luck. We underwent four years of IVF. It was really rough.

Which unfortunately is the path you're going to need to take. It might take a while, but in the mean time, don't stop trying. Besides getting pregnant, sex has a bunch of other benefits such as stress relief. Which brings up another point, perspective and knowing what you can and cannot change. I am sure you're aware of the old saying:
"Grant me the wisdom to change that which I can, The serenity to accept that which I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the two apart."
It is one you should think about. At this point, until you get the test done and the answers you desire, you need to accept that this is something that could not change. Why stress about that, and why expend more effort on it when that effort will show no gain. There is positive sides and all that but you need to make sure that your brain is in a good place.

You never know, it could just have been a series of unfortunate occurrences and the next time you could conceive.
