    If only!
Knights of the Abbottlands sally forth - The Drum (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

and the titles were spread abroad for one and all to glory in the reflected splendor, a republic who rewarded it's people for their loyalty and self sacrifice, and the vision splendid bestrode the land. Once again we could say that Jack was as good as his master, and Peter and Quentin better than any

Abbott will be booted out in the next election while O'Farrell will be re-elected.

Swinging voters like myself know the reason why. Simply put: we don't like radical change.

Radical, if by radical you mean retreating to our roots I agree, but not even John Howard, King Little John, would go so far. This is not radical, it is rabid, smacking of the days of absolute monarchs, perhaps Tony, the Abbott of Canberra, has been taking lessons from Obama, the Black Prince of Chicago. I suspect we can expect a coup and both the Abbott and the Bishop, Bronwyn of the Speakers Chair, will trip off into the sunset together, and Sir Malcolm, he of the Eastern Turnbull, will emerge from the wings, singing the rousing tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic

This is comic opera at its best and the fat lady has already sung

Speaker Bronwyn Bishop targeted in no-confidence vote after Labor's Mark Dreyfus kicked out of Parliament - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Since you put this forward as a possible scenario I have changed my mind. Long live the realm. A Republic would be a disaster.

Why is he wasting his time on garbage like that ? He has a majority .Time to use it to do the things he campaigned on like cutting gvt spending . He's turning back boats full of illegals. That's more than any American leader has done in decades.

Well, Tom, he is in the same position as your illusterous leader, he has the ascendency in one house and not the other, but no ability to write executive orders, the bills have passed the House and been rejected by the Senate, two possibilities now present; create the possibility of a double dissolution by introducing the bills again, almost a certainity, or, wait until July when he has a changed Senate which might be a little more favourable although PUP has already said it won't support him. So deals to be done, requiring statesmanship

meanwhile, amusing the masses in the circus, we will see if there is any bread in the budget while Tony plays the hustings in WA and trips the light fantastic in lycra and budgeesmugglers (the emperors new clothes) equally transparent

As far as turning back the boats, you just don't have the will to use our bizairre methods, big orange lifeboats, remote detention centres from which no one emerges, oh wait you have one of those, but not for illegal immigrants. The idea is this, you are an asylum seeker on a boat, you are intercepted, you sabatage your boat so you can't be turned back, so you are bundled into a lifeboat and hey presto you are back where you started and you have a gift, a $45,000 boat and no fuel, if you don't like this option you can have an all expenses paid tropical holiday
