    I had a case closed 12 yrs ago and need to have it expunged but the state is only req
    12 yrs ago I had paid fines and plead guilty to failure to appear charge. I didn't realize that the state of Ga. Didn't drop this off your file without paying an
    "expungent " fee. To make long story short I haven't resided in Ga for 12 years and after an FBI backround check this is appearing stating that I has been closed and DOA. You would think that this would be a rather painless process. This has proven to be anything but! My disposition papers no longer exist and without them , no expungment. They are only required to keep these files for 10 years. Which leads me to filing a motion with the magistrate judge for a certified copy of dismissal. Please help, it's vital that I have this taken care of and I live 12 hours away and was told to submit a notarized statement. How do I go about doing this ?

    Hire an attorney in GA to file for you. Why would you think being guilty of a crime would ever go away?
