    Could I be pregnant?
Hi I am new here and I want to ask could I be pregnant. I am 38 years old and me and my husband are trying to conceive. My period is two weeks away and a couple of days ago I noticed some pinkish discharge that only lasted two days, my lower stomach and thighs have shooting pains not severe but they do hurt.I also have been having light headaches, could this be an early sign of pregnancy?

    Hi rollangirl76,

There could be a number of possibilities, including the possibility of ovulation itself. You'll need to wait and see what happens when your period is due.

I know, the not knowing and hoping can be a challenge! May I ask how long you have been trying?

If possible, try to have sex every 2-3 days throughout your cycle. That should cover your timing. There are various ways to try and get an idea of when your body is most likely preparing for ovulation. One would be to watch for changes in your cervical mucus. You may notice that about a week or so after the start of a period, it starts to become more fluid and clear. If you do happen to notice this change, it would be wise to be sure to have sex a few times over the next several days

If you don't become pregnant after about 6 months of actively trying, you may want to consider seeing your doctor about some initial blood work for you and a sperm analysis for your husband to determine whether or not there are any fertility concerns that may need to be addressed.

In the meantime, be sure to be taking a good prenatal or multivitamin, and make any other lifestyle changes that you know would be healthy for both of you to do.

I hope that you don't have to try too much longer!

Sadly, when it comes to pregnancy, the normal first sign is a missed period. It's a bit early for that.

I do get it though. When I was trying (7 months with my son, 10 months with my daughter) every headache, every feeling of nausea, every pound I gained, became a pregnancy symptom. If I was 5 minutes latte for my period I was convinced I had conceived. More often than not I was wrong.

Having said that, wait for your next period. If you miss it, wait 2 weeks, then test using first morning urine. If it's positive, congrats. If it's negative, wait for you next period and if you miss it, test again or get a blood test done.

I wish we could be more help. Sadly, all we can do is send baby dust your way and hope that this is it.

Do keep in mind that it takes the average couple 1-2 years to conceive when they actively start trying. Four months is just the beginning.

Good luck, and let us know when it happens. :)

Thank you both for the advice and I will let you know what the result is! Also my husband is constantly telling me to take a test and I can't get him to understand that you have to wait for a missed period! He so silly sometimes! But thanks again!

Oh , I remember, when my wife was trying to conceive, every thing from heart burn to a sore back, made her think she could be, since it was a sign sometimes. We finally did conceive after about 18 months.
